The Changing of the Guard

Meanwhile, Up in the Sky...

Sometimes the sky changes all at once.

A few weeks ago there was a pretty nutty all-night lightning storm in my sister-in-law Ash's hometown of Squamish. She was sending us pictures and footage on the family thread when news broke that Dolly Parton had died.

My mother-in-law asked me to weigh in:

"Isn't there some astrological stuff going on with the eclipse of the moon? Turning this over to the knowledgeable Shannon."

Well. Yes.

It feels bananas out there because astrologically we are in the middle of a massive changing of the guard.

Pluto has been settling into Aquarius since late 2024, stirring up all the complicated business of groups, power, technology, society and who gets to control what. But this year the rest of the sky started changing too. Saturn moved into Aries. Uranus moved into Gemini. Jupiter moved into Leo.

After years dominated by Earth and Water, suddenly there is Fire and Air everywhere.

Yin to Yang. Globally.

And Jupiter makes everything BIG.

This is a significant elemental shift. Earth and Water tend to contain, absorb, consolidate and internalize. Fire and Air move. They spread. They ignite. They communicate. They can be exciting, creative and liberating, but they can also move very, very quickly.

So I couldn't help seeing that insane all-night lightning storm in Squamish as a rather literal image of all this new Air and Fire energy crackling through the atmosphere.

Then Toronto got walloped by a spectacular storm of its own, with torrential rain, huge hail, flooding and funnel clouds.

Earth and Water giving way to Air and Fire, personified.

One Last Blast of Pisces

At the same time, something interesting has been happening with the eclipses.

We had already begun the new Aquarius/Leo eclipse cycle when Pisces came back at the end of August for one last blast before the Virgo/Pisces cycle disappeared completely.

And boy, did it feel like a blast.

There were storms, political confrontations and upheaval everywhere you looked. And then Dolly died.

That felt strangely enormous to me. Not simply the death of the kindest, funniest, smartest and most talented famous person, but the end of something cultural.

The dove died and somehow immediately became an incandescent saint. More powerful than ever!!

There is something very Pisces about that transformation. The physical person disappears and the symbol becomes larger. Boundaries dissolve. A human being becomes an icon, an image, a collective memory.

And perhaps that is part of what these periods feel like.

The old order doesn't politely hand over its keys to the new one. Things fracture and end. Things get loud while everybody adjusts to the new arrangement.

Pluto is in Aquarius. Uranus is in Gemini. Saturn is in Aries. Jupiter is in Leo. The eclipses are shifting toward Aquarius and Leo.

The sky has changed.

And we're changing with it.

My best advice for the moment is to lay low where you can, protect your peace and let the planets get accustomed to their new homes.

A tall order. πŸ’“
