Astrology Diploma from the CAAE

It used to hurt my feelings when people who I respected and admired made fun of astrology. But now it just annoys me.
Because it’s lazy.
People I know damn well are super intelligent FAIL at critical thinking when they insult and dismiss a subject they know nothing about. What they “know” is the modern day trappings of astrology such as daily horoscope columns and “what’s your sign baby?” fun-filled fluff stuff. They have not taken two seconds to look into the vast world of astrology.
It took me many years to become an astrologer. As Richard Idemon said “The construction of the astrological chart is a science, but the interpretation of it is an art.” I had to learn astronomy to know how to draw up a chart. That was the easy part. But the art of astrology is much harder.
First you have to learn the language of astrology. Hundreds of new words and their meanings. You have to fumble around with symbols and aspects and angles until you start to kind of understand what the hell you are looking at. Then you learn a slew of techniques used to interpret a chart. Some of which are thousands of years old. Bit by bit you take apart and piece together this incredibly complex thing- the natal chart- so you can deliver a reading for a client. Then, to relate their particular chart to the constantly moving body of the cosmos to do forecasting- You have to learn many more techniques…
Add to this that the depth of your ability to read a chart is only as deep as the work you have done on yourself. You cannot be a good practicing astrologer unless you have plumbed your own psychological and emotional depths. You just can’t.
I studied astrology with many different teachers to earn my diploma in chart consultation. My University degree workload paled by comparison. I have been practicing astrology for the last 12 years and I think I am at best, mediocre. There is so much to know.
I gave the toast to the teachers at the graduation ceremony, with a heart full of gratitude.
