Astrological musings big and small

Have you ever sat down and given consideration to astrological sign groupings?

I do quite often...

In my family growing up, there were 5 of us: two were Air (Mom and one sis) two were Earth signs (Dad and other sis) with me the only Water sign. When I was young, at times I felt like I was adopted and of course my older sister liked to tease me that this was definitely the case:)

Funnily enough, my husbands family of origin were two Air signs (he and his mom) and two Earth (his Dad and his sis) so I fit in with that astrological dynamic quite naturally.

In the Royal family, Charles, Diana and William are all Water signs (Diana, William and Camilla are all Cancerians) while Harry is the only Earth sign.

These “odd person out” children in families can sometimes feel like they are separate from the rest and a bit misunderstood. Especially if everyone in the family is one particular element and you are another, as is the case with Harry- “The Spare”. God knows there is more than just astrology going on with that poor whiny boy, but being the only Earth sign in a family of all Water signs did not help. Word was that he felt a particular affinity with his grandmother- the Queen- who was a Taurus and therefore a fellow earth sign. But malignant narcissist Megan (the embodiment of the worst qualities a Leo can have) made sure to burn that relationship to the ground, which Harry energetically went along with, and which I am sure he deeply regrets.

A lot of current world leaders are Air signs. Trump, Xi and Droupadi Murmu are ALL Gemini (and for you Canadians- so are Poilievre & Elizabeth May) Putin is Libra and both Zelenskyy and Shigeru Ishiba are Aquarius.

Air signs are known for their ability to emotionally detach which can be a good thing. But as you can imagine, by some of the leaders listed above, it can also be very bad. However, I do chose to believe that everything is unfolding as it is meant to, and Mundane astrology does help me with this.

Pluto has just moved into Aquarius. Uranus has just moved into Gemini. These revolutionary and transformative planets are in Air now and they will be for some time. What will these leaders provoke in the populace? Especially with both Saturn and Neptune shifting into Aries. As above, so below. Buckle up!

On a fun level, I'll find myself looking up actors Sun signs when I'm watching a show I LOVE in which the cast gels really well.

For Frasier- he is a Pisces flanked by Air (Roz and Martin are both Geminis IRL) and Fire (Daphne & Niles, are both Aries actors). If you know anything about Kelsey Grammer, you know he needed some Air and Fire to dry him out!

On CSI Vegas- Most of the OG main characters are Water sign actors and I can FEEL that element coming through their characters: Gil, Nick & Hodges are all played by Pisces, Catherine, Doc & David are Scorpio actors & Jorja's Sarah is the ultimate Cancer. Warrick was the only Fire sign in the original cast, and he had contract disputes and was killed off the show. My beloved Brass is played by a delicious Capricorn who keeps everything in order. When his stiff upper lip cracks, you cry with him. 

One of my favourite ensemble cast shows (which my husband and I are currently rewatching for the 5th time) is Brooklyn 99. The actors in the show are ALL Water and Fire with one exceptional Air sign. Before you read further, if you know the show, try to guess who the odd person out is:) I’ll name the characters below but what I'm giving you are the actors signs:

For Fire- Jake, Amy, Terry, Hitchcock, Kevin Kosner and Wuntch are ALL Leos in real life, and Boyle and Pimento are both Sadge. On the Water side- Holt and the Vulture are Cancerians, Doug Judy is a Scorpio and Gina & Scully are both Pisces. The only exception in the main cast from the elements of Water and Fire is a stand out: Rosa (swoon) who is an Aquarian.

Rosa’s character is one that gets played time and again as a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma who struggles with her feeling side.  All the other characters respect (and love) and fear her and she is full of surprises.  It was Rosa in the final season who left the 99 to go out on her own because she was disillusioned with the police force and wanted to become a private investigator to help victims of police brutality, feeling she could be more effective outside the system. This is SO AQUARIUS!!

My grade school girls are from Scorpio to Pisces (cover picture for this post) so mostly the Universal signs. I have been friends with these women for over 40 years. we call ourselves the "True Blue Crew". And interestingly, in the small handful of current male friends I have, they are from the same later Sun signs as these earliest friends… Sadge, Aquarius and Pisces.

I think perhaps you are drawn to certain signs when you are ready for their energy in your life. Astrologically, this may have a lot to do with Secondary Progressions. My natal chart is mostly Fire and Water, but my progressed chart is dominantly Air and Earth.

Since we moved into our new house in 2022, I have found a handful of good friends in our neighbourhood and they are from the earlier zodiac signs. A couple of Tauruses (both with Aquarius moons!), a hilarious Leo and a warm & cuddly Virgo.  Upon reflection, I noticed that a number of significant people I have pulled into my life in later years, are of the Personal signs, most notably my husband who is a full on Gemini. And it seems he has started a trend with Geminis...

Last week at a social gathering I had here, it was me and a bunch of Geminis, most of whom have a strong Capricorn influence in their charts.  It seems I like my Air signs mixed with Earth, and my Earth signs mixed with Air! And I'm attracted to Personal signs with a good dollop of Universal influence... am I getting too granular yet? Lol.
